Comprehensive Cancer Center
The research efforts of the Comprehensive Cancer Center are broadly divided into 3 programs:
- Clinical Research
- Cancer Control
- Basic Science Programs
By demonstrating depth and breadth in these 3 areas, the Cancer Center at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has earned the National Cancer Institute’s Comprehensive designation, the only Cancer Center in western North Carolina to be so designated, and one of only 43 NCI Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States.
The Cancer Center’s 3 Programs are structured in a way to optimize interdisciplinary and translational research. That is, working together to take the most promising discoveries from the laboratory into the clinic for the benefit of individuals and the public.
