Animal Procurement - Non-Human Primates

Nonhuman primates require special procurement procedures. In view of the current shortages of some primate species and the special space/caging requirements associated with their housing, inquiries about availability should be made as far ahead of intended use as possible.

All nonhuman primates are quarantined for at least 60 days after arrival. During this time they will be tested for cutaneous sensitivity to tuberculin and observed for clinical signs of disease. In general, no nonhuman primate will be released from quarantine until all animals in the room have completed five consecutive negative skin tests for tuberculosis. Exceptions require approval by the ARP Director.
