Adult and Pediatric Allergy Clinic

Asthma and Immunology Expertise-
Where Knowledge Makes All The Difference

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center’s Adult and Pediatric Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Clinics form the largest center for diagnosing and treating primary immuno-deficiency conditions in the Southeast. Our physicians have backgrounds ranging from internal medicine to pediatrics, and all are trained in adult and pediatric allergy and immunology. In addition, there are three certified RN asthma educators who spend extensive one-on-one time with each asthma patient or each pediatric patient and his or her family.  They ensure that all understand disease management, triggers, avoidance measures, disease monitoring and how and when to use each medication.

Clinic Visits
Clinic visits are by appointment only. To assure appropriate follow-up, we require that you be referred by your primary care physician.

We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment. If you are 15 minutes late, we may have to reschedule your appointment.

Your first visit will include a thorough assessment appropriate to your particular situation. It will be helpful if you can bring copies of recent x-rays, laboratory tests and other relevant medical records to this initial meeting.

When you return for a follow-up, you will be scheduled to see the same physician. If your doctor is unavailable for urgent problems, other doctors in our practice have access to your medical records and can provide care as needed.

Working With Your Primary Care Physician

We anticipate working closely with your primary care physician (family practitioner or internist) and will send copies of laboratory results, x-rays and records as requested. Since the Clinic provides specialty care, we will not be managing primary care problems.

Please contact your pharmacist to verify that your prescription has been called into the pharmacy and is ready for you to pick up.

Please note the following restrictions regarding prescription refills:

We do not refill prescriptions prescribed by other physicians;

We cannot refill pain medications after office hours or during the weekend;

If you haven’t been seen by our physician within the last six months, you must schedule a follow-up visit prior to prescription refill.  We want to make sure that the medication is properly dosed and that your health hasn’t changed.
