Mary Ochs
I received a BS in Nursing from Albright College in Reading, PA in 1978. After working for a year at Harrisburg Hospital in Med-Surg, I worked in ICU-CCU, having certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, in Carlisle, PA and later in Lexington, SC, when my husband and our children relocated to the Columbia area.
We have been living in the Winston-Salem area since 1993. I worked for nine years in the General and Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinics at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and have been working with Allergy/Immunology for two years.
I received certification as an asthma educator this year. In my present role, I share responsibilities with two other registered nurses. We provide instructions concerning asthma medications, trigger avoidance, management of symptoms to our patients, both adult and pediatric, and their families. We also perform allergy skin-testing, spirometry, other related testing/challenges, and manage allergy shot clinics for our pediatric and adult patient population.
