Stipend And Benefits

The annual stipend for the first year fellow will be approximately $45,000 and increases approximately 2-3% per year. Benefits include professional liability insurance, medical insurance/hospitalization, life insurance, disability insurance, lab coats, duplicating services, and paid sick leave. In addition, the Section provides three weeks of paid vacation per year.  Quality on-site childcare is available.

Each fellow may be reimbursed for $1,200 each year for expenses incurred through attendance of national conferences, and payment of dues or subscriptions. Fellows are expected to attend one meeting each year and submit an abstract. This money cannot be carried over from year to year.  There are several opportunities throughout the year where the American Thoracic Society (ATS), American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) or Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) sponsor fellowship conferences where all expenses are covered by an educational grant; no expenses should be incurred by the fellows during these events.
