Characterizing the genetic, environmental and neurobiological factors that influence sensitivity to the abuse-related effects of cocaine

Understanding long-term changes in the brain and in behavior that occur during cocaine self-administration and during abstinence

Defining the pharmacological properties that characterize an effective medication for cocaine abuse and dependence.
