Institutional Review Board
Human Subject Protection Education Programs | IRB Presentations

Per Federal Regulations, WFUHS is responsible for assuring that “all activities related to human subjects, regardless of funding source, will be guided by the ethical principles in the Belmont Report.” To do this, all research personnel must participate in the human subject’s protection education programs (formerly known as CRICC).

  • The IRB offers certification in human subject protection education programs.
  • This certification is valid for two years.
  • All research personnel who have access to study participant information should complete the training course.
  • WFUHS does not accept training from other institutions as valid training unless a researcher participated in the CITI course at another institution and can provide documentation of such training.

Wake Forest University Health Sciences participates in the CITI program that is run through the University of Miami.

All Biomedical Research modules
(Group 1) that are part of the "Core" CITI Course must be completed with a combined score of 75% or better. You do not need to complete all the modules in a single session.
