Pharmacy Information and Resources
The Northwest AHEC Pharmacy Section serves practicing pharmacists, pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, pharmacy technicians, medical residents, physicians, and physician extenders through continuing education programs, student training, clinical services, and research.
Pharmacy Continuing Education
- Eight to twelve continuing education programs accredited by the UNC-CH School of Pharmacy, an approved provider of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Pharmacy Education are offered yearly.
- Offers, in conjunction with the Greensboro AHEC, disease state management certificate program training for pharmacists interested in developing skills in certain disease states, such as anticoagulation, asthma, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension.

Student Training
- In conjunction with the UNC School of Pharmacy, coordinates, supervises, and administers the Professional Experience Program for PharmD students on rotations
- Assists in the education and training of various health care professionals.

Clinical Services
- Provides clinical pharmacy services through consultation and direct-patient care in anticoagulation, geriatrics, epilepsy, and internal medicine clinics
Research
- Conducts various research projects evaluating the impact of clinical pharmacy services, educational tools, bioequivalence clinical trials, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
