LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
The Mission, Vision, and Values approved by the Board of North Carolina Baptist Hospital (NCBH) set high standards for our organization. Under any circumstance the goals we have set for ourselves are significant and in the current environment for healthcare they are particularly challenging. Regulatory and economic pressures on our industry greatly affect the processes for providing care to our patients. So while we work to achieve a high standard of care, we must also work to comply with the various requirements that govern our services.
This Code of Conduct is provided, along with the Standards of Behavior, as a resource for you. It is a tool for training in compliance with rules, regulations, and good business and healthcare practices. Compliance is an expectation for NCBH as an organization and for each one of us individually. The formal compliance program is in place to support management and employee efforts to follow the complex rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern our industry. The compliance function provides training and serves as a resource to answer questions, develop processes, and create an environment that encourages compliance. A Hotline is also provided as a safety net for situations where issues may not be properly recognized or addressed.
Our subsidiary organizations are a valuable part of the services we provide. While this document is intended to cover the broad organization, it may not address every issue at each subsidiary. While individual subsidiaries may each adopt a separate Code of Conduct, all are covered by the NCBH Compliance Program.
By working together to do the right things well, we provide quality care while meeting the expectations of our patients, the government, and the healthcare industry. Thank you for this commitment to excellence and integrity.

Len B. Preslar, Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer, North Carolina Baptist Hospital
