Current Research:
Understanding the molecular mechanisms by which omega-3 fatty acid enriched oil, derived from Echium plantagineum, reduces plasma triglyceride concentrations and whether supplementation with echium oil will reduce atherosclerosis and arterial inflammation to a degree similar to that observed with fish oil.  My research is aimed at how this botanical oil affects the activation state of macrophages elicited from mice fed supplementation diets and whether supplementation will lead to changes in expression of genes involved in inflammation as has been evidenced in fish oil studies.
