Projected Progress

Below is a timetable of the projected progress of a student of the PhD Program in Molecular Medicine:

First Year
By August	Students consult with Program Directors as temporary advisors Start first year coursework Start 3 months rotations through laboratories
By May 31	Complete first year coursework Thesis advisor is selected and approved by Program Directors Start Clinical Rotations
By August 1	Thesis Committee is selected Thesis topic is discussed with the Thesis Committee
Second Year
By September 1	Start second year coursework Start thesis research
By May 31	Complete second year course work
Third Year
By September 1	Submit outline of preliminary research proposal to Thesis Committee
By October 31	The Thesis Committee will give an oral examination on research proposal and coursework
Sept – Oct	2 weeks before the oral defense the students will provide a written copy of the research proposal to the thesis committee
Fourth/Fifth Year
Once each semester	The student will meet with the Thesis Committee to present written progress on the thesis research
Completion of Research	Complete thesis and submit written research proposal to the Thesis Committee The Thesis Committee will give an oral examination on the student's research results presented in the thesis
