Projected Progress
Below is a timetable of the projected progress of a student of the PhD Program in Molecular Medicine:

First Year |

By August |
- Students consult with Program Directors as temporary advisors
- Start first year coursework
- Start 3 months rotations through laboratories

By May 31 |
- Complete first year coursework
- Thesis advisor is selected and approved by Program Directors
- Start Clinical Rotations

By August 1 |
- Thesis Committee is selected
- Thesis topic is discussed with the Thesis Committee

|
Second Year |
|
By September 1 |
- Start second year coursework
- Start thesis research
|
|
By May 31 |
- Complete second year course work
|
|
Third Year |
|
By September 1 |
- Submit outline of preliminary research proposal to Thesis Committee
|

By
October 31 |
- The Thesis Committee will give an oral examination on research proposal and coursework
|
|
Sept – Oct |
- 2 weeks before the oral defense the students will provide a written copy of the research proposal to the thesis committee
|
|
Fourth/Fifth Year |
|
Once each semester |
- The student will meet with the Thesis Committee to present written progress on the thesis research
|
|
Completion of Research |
- Complete thesis and submit written research proposal to the Thesis Committee
- The Thesis Committee will give an oral examination on the student's research results presented in the thesis
