“Why did I choose to come to Wake Forest?  During my junior and senior years of undergrad, I decided that I was interested in research as a career.  I began looking at schools that offered many kinds of opportunities and atmospheres.  I came upon Wake Forest, almost by accident, and chose to apply to their Microbiology and Immunology department.  I knew Wake Forest had a reputation for being an excellent learning environment and that their graduates went on to be successful beyond graduate school.  Also, I was so impressed by the quality of people that I encountered when I was being recruited and during the interview process.  The department seemed like a family, not just a loose group of coworkers.  I knew that Wake was the place for me.  I knew that I wanted to be part of something more than just a lab; I wanted to be part of a cohesive team.”
