VALUE ANALYSIS

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

 

Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

PURPOSE

 

To provide necessary resources to Materials Management customers for information, problem solving, and questions concerning Materials Management activities and functions; serve as a clinical liaison with hospital departments; facilitate non-salary expense reduction activities.

GOALS

Ø       Provide assistance to customers in a timely solving of complaints.

Ø       Provide needed resources for customers for information, problem solving, and questions concerning supply, distribution, receiving, inventory and sterile processing.

Ø       Improve quality of service to outside departments.

Ø       Improve quality of service within Materials Management.

Ø       Provide information related to recalls, device alerts and product safety.

Ø       Provide appropriate education for Materials Management employees and other departments.

Ø       Work with clinical departments to obtain the highest quality of most cost effective products for use.

Ø       Coordinate non-salary expense reduction activities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Ø       Coordinate clinical trials and evaluation of proposed products.

Ø       Coordinate the introduction of new products.

Ø       Coordinate all in-service education for Materials Management employees.

Ø       Conduct in-service education programs for outside departments related to Materials Management functions and/or special projects.

Ø       Distribute information related to product recalls to the appropriate departments.

Ø       Provide statistical information and reports on various performance/operational activities within Materials Management.

Ø       Develop strategies to compare and evaluate the relative merits, value ad utilization of commodity and clinical preference products for subsequent introduction to the hospital.

Ø       Serve as a liaison to work groups that are formed for the specific evaluation of products or processes.

Ø       Provide input to Purchasing Agents and Buyers regarding the most cost effective products and assist with the evaluation of contracts used to source supplies.

Ø       Spearhead ongoing supply cost management projects through the development of structure and form including the design of appropriate methods to update clinicians on the relative cost of equivalent products.

Ø       Assist departments in determining the cost of providing care and services.
