HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
DEFINITIONS
Materiel: the equipment, apparatus and supplies of an organization
Disposition: final settlement
PURPOSE
The Department’s primary purpose is to be the final custodian of all Hospital assets being retired and to redeploy them back to Hospital departments, sell them, donate them or simply discard or recycle them responsibly. The Department works closely with Financial Management to assure the accuracy of the records of those assets.
FUNCTIONS
When a department of the Hospital declares an asset surplus and sends a “Property Transfer/Disposal Request” form to the accountant in General Ledger charged with maintaining asset records, the accountant identifies by decal number, serial number, or description the asset. The form is then forwarded to Materiel Disposition for pick up. Materiel Disposition then dispatches a crew to retrieve the asset and transport it to the Hospital’s warehouse at 100 Regent Drive in Stratford Industrial Park. Following disposition, the Property form is then returned to accounting so that the asset can be retired or transferred into another department to continue its life as a Hospital asset.
Other functions include:
Ø Provide moving service for Hospital departments whether a single piece of furniture or an entire office.
Ø Set up tables and chairs for special events
Ø Assist departments with off-campus activities by moving items from and back to the Hospital.
Ø Responsible for recycling of cardboard bales.
Ø A very limited amount of space has been provided for certain departmental records storage. Currently, the Department is no longer accepting new customers for this function.
Ø A limited amount of space is available for short-term storage of assets that will be returned to service.
