LOAD CONTROL NUMBERS
PURPOSE
To provide for the effective recall of items sterilized by CS. To designate hospital sterilization equipment used for each item including date and cycle.
LABELS
Labels are affixed to each package sterilized. These labels contain the following information:
Ø Expiration date - the date in which the item is no longer considered sterile (6 months from the date of sterilization).
Ø Julian calendar number - internal control number used by CS.
Ø Load Number – the number of the sterilizer used and the sequential number of load sterilized.
Ø Sterile until open or damaged.
Ø Event related.
