Student Services, Diversity and Development Initiatives

Diversity Initiatives

In the spring of 1975, the medical school administration developed the Office of Minority Affairs in an effort to coordinate existing separate and individual efforts toward minority  student recruitment and retention, and to increase minority recruitment, admission, retention, and graduation through the support of such a coordinated effort.

Today, the programs and activities administered by Student Services/Minority Programs offer not only short term objectives such as recruiting students capable of meeting admissions requirements, but long range objectives as well, which focus on medical career awareness and preparation of minority and disadvantaged kindergarten, middle school, high school and college students.

Student Services/Diversity and Development Initiatives is located on the 3rd floor of Watlington Hall.
