POST-BACCALAUREATE PREMEDICAL PROGRAM

What is the Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program?
Wake Forest University and Wake Forest University School of Medicine have developed a program to facilitate the entry of students into medical school from populations underrepresented in medicine and/or disadvantaged. The curriculum focuses on science and communication skills.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Must have received a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States

Must have completed eight semester hours each of Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics.

Must have an undergraduate science and overall grade point average of 2.7 or better and a total MCAT score of 21 or more (7's in each area).

Must complete the application process and be willing to complete the program.
How Long Is the Program?
The program is one academic year beginning in August and ending the following May.
What are the benefits of this program?

Tuition is waived however, you are responsible for your living expenses and a $10,000 Program Fee.

Scholarships are available to qualifying students.

Scholarships available to cover Program Fee based upon financial need

Academic support services are available.

Admission to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine following successful completion of the program with an overall (B) average, meeting all program requirements and successful application process.
How do I apply?

Complete and submit an AMCAS application, through general admissions indicating Wake Forest as one of your schools by the November 1 deadline.

If applying only to the Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program, complete and submit an AMCAS application , selecting Wake Forest Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program by December 15. Pre-approval is required and obtained by sending your AMCAS ID to the office by email and asking for approval.
- Upon receipt and evaluation of the AMCAS primary application, notification will be sent regarding your status. Post Bac Premedical Program secondary applications are selectively sent and ask for two( (2) letters of recommendation, a $50 non refundable processing fee and a 2x2 color photo, which is optional.

Check to see if you are eligible to receive an AMCAS processing fee waiver. If the AMCAS processing fee is waived, the secondary application processing fee will also be waived.
What is the Procedure for Admission?

Only completed packets will be considered.

MCAT score must be within 3 years of date of matriculation into the medical school curriculum

Selected applicants will be offered an interview by April 1st
-
Final selections will be made by May 30th
-
Ten students are selected to participate each year
-
Class will begin the first week of August.
- Equal consideration is given to in-state and out-of-state students.
