NCknows
The Carpenter Library offers virtual reference service in several ways. We have been chosen to participate in a statewide project administered by the NC State Library to provide virtual reference service to all NC citizens. We help staff a virtual reference desk answering questions from across the state. Every library in the state is eligible to display a "NCknows" button on their web page which will connect a local library user to one of the participating libraries. Click the "NCknows" button to initiate an interactive chat with a reference librarian. The reference librarian can answer questions and forward web-based information. The service is available 24/7 to any user with access to the web.
