  • All about RSS Feeds - David Stewart
    In this class you will learn what they are, how they work, and how to subscribe to them so that you can have the information you need delivered to your desktop.
  • EndNote Web - Rochelle Kramer - Learn about this Web-based service designed to help students and researchers through the process of creating a database and writing a research paper. Available free to the medical center, EndNote Web can be used alone or with your desktop EndNote or Reference Manager software. 
  • Excel 2003 - Kim McBride
    New to Excel? Or maybe you used Excel long ago and need a refresher. This class is for beginners. It is also an opportunity to get up to speed and have some questions answered.
  • Library Basic Resources - Alex Norwood
    The class covers the basics of a medical library, the organization of medical libraries, how to locate materials and what services are available. A library tour is included.
  • Mastering Electronic Journals - David Stewart
    Learn how to locate, search, browse, and print from the Carpenter Library’s 2200+ electronic journals’ collection. The electronic textbook collection will also be examined.
  • NIH Public Access How-To - Molly Keener - 716-4203
    Learn about the steps NIH-funded authors need to follow to ensure compliance with the now mandatory NIH Public Access Policy.  Participants will learn which articles are affected, what rights need to be reserved when signing publishing contracts, how to submit manuscripts, how to locate articles in PubMed Central, and where to find detailed information.
  • Google Scholar, Scirus & PubMed - David Stewart Which tool should I use when? All the ins and outs of searching for information utilizing Google Scholar and PubMed will be covered. You will learn what each one searches, how it searches and the advantages and disadvantages with each searching tool.
  • Office Transition - Julie James This free, one hour class details the basics for transitioning from Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2007. Discover what's new what's different and what stays the same. Small group instruction, by request, is also available.
  • Outlook 2007 - Kim McBride Learn how to make the most of your Outlook email and Outlook calendar.
  • Photoshop Image Editing - Kim McBride This class covers the basic concepts of digital pictures and how they can be manipulated in the computer. 
  • PubMed Medline - Rochelle Kramer
    Learn about special features including Single Citation Manager, Journals Database, MeSH Browser, Clinical Queries, Cubby, and links to other government resources.
  • Reference Manager - Rochelle Kramer
    Learn the basic principles of creating your own bibliographic databases, importing references and publishing manuscripts.

    Science Citation Index (SCI) provides coverage of the journal literature in many scientific disciplines, including medicine, back to 1974. Special features include cited reference searching and locating meeting abstracts.

    Includes Drugdex (information on over 1900 FDA-approved, non-prescription, and investigational drugs), DrugReax (drug reaction data), Poisindex (information on poisonings), the PDR, and pregnancy/ teratogenicity information.
