The following tutorials are intended to complement the courses currently offered by the library.

  • Basic Skills - Provides an introduction to the EndNote (Version 8) software and its applications
  • Cite While You Write - Preparation of final manuscript in a word processing package while interacting with the EndNote library (database) that you have created
  • Import Filters - Teaches the use of specific filters with references saved from PubMed, Web of Science and other databases to be imported into the EndNote program and where to find or modify filters
  • EndNote from PubMed - Shows step by step the procedures that must be followed to search within PubMed, save references in the proper Medline format, and then import the saved references to an EndNote library
  • Simple Bibliography - Demonstrates the creation of a bibliography from a EndNote library without a manuscript

    Library Basic Resources--This orientation to the library is designed for research/support staff, but anyone is welcome to attend. The class covers the basic organization of a medical library, how to locate materials and what services are available. A library tour is included.

    Micromedex*-- Live and pre-recorded online sessions, Quick Reference Cards, Interactive Online Tutorials, Users Guides, and other promotional resources.

    Microsoft Power Point

    • Active Learning with PowerPoint - created by the University of Minnesota for teaching faculty. This tutorial covers all the basics of PowerPoint and some advanced features, such as using text and video in presentations.

    • PowerPoint 2000 Tutorial - created by Florida Gulf Coast University, provides information on using Power Point. It covers all the basic functions such as creating a new presentation, creating a new slide, rearranging slide order, etc. and covers more advanced functions such as adding graphics and animation.

    Personalizing your PDA Tutorial--The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Library has created this tutorial to assist users in personalizing their PDA. Users will learn how to change the behavior of the application buttons, control the sounds their PDA makes, create shortcuts, and set up security features.     PubMed-Tutorials from the National Library of Medicine

    • PubMed--This tutorial is designed to teach the user how to use and navigate the many search features of PubMed. The tutorial is set up so that the user can choose individual topic to learn or work through the whole tutorial from top to bottom Simply choose a section from the list on the left side of the screen.

    • PubMed QuickTours - short tutorials on different types of searching, subject headings, and using My NCBI.

    UptoDate--This tutorial, from the manufacturer of this product, gives users instruction in using UptoDate to find medical information.

    Web of Science--Several short tutorials (4-7 minutes) on various aspects of searching Web of Science, including managing search results, saving search histories and alerts, cited reference searching, and citation reports.
