Creating Links to Library Resources
If you would like to create hyperlinks to Carpenter Library resources so they can be used by students or colleagues from on-campus and off-campus locations, follow these steps:
1. Determine the URL required to access the library resource. Example: Pediatrics (journal) http://pediatrics.aappublications.org
2. Add the following proxy prefix to the resource URL: http://go.libproxy.wfubmc.edu/login?url=
3. The resulting URL in the above example would be: http://go.libproxy.wfubmc.edu/login?url=http://pediatrics.aappublications.org
When using the hyperlink in Step 3, off-campus users will be prompted for their MEDCTR login information. If an individual is affiliated with the Medical Center and does not have a MEDCTR account, they can apply for a proxy affiliate account using this form.

The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site
Note: The behavior described below occurs only with Internet Explorer. Mozilla does not have this problem.
Depending on how the security settings are configured in your browser, you may receive a security alert before the login page loads. It provides a warning, "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site".

Carpenter Library purchased a server certificate for its proxy server to provide encryption of user login information. The site name registered in the certificate is *.libproxy.wfubmc.edu. This provides security for all site names ending in .libproxy.wfubmc.edu.
The proxy server address is go.libproxy.wfubmc.edu. Internet Explorer gets confused because this address doesn't exactly match *.libproxy.wfubmc.edu in the certificate. It ignores the fact that the server has a wildcard certificate.
If you receive this alert, it's okay to click the Yes button. Click the View Certificate button to learn about the certificate owner and issuer.
You are about to be redirected to a connection that is not secure
Carpenter Library's proxy server uses the https protocol to encrypt confidential login information transmitted from your web browser. After a successful login, you are forwarded to the resource site requested. You may receive a security alert before your first site is loaded. It provides a warning, "You are about to be redirected to a connection that is not secure".

If you receive this alert, it's okay to click the Yes button. Your browser is indicating that the https protocol will not be used for the rest of your current proxy session.
