Robert Tigerstedt Award
This award is in appreciation of Dr. Ferrario’s outstanding achievements in cardiovascular research, notably his break-through discoveries concerning the renin-angiotensin system.
Robert Tigerstedt (1853-1923) is recognized as an outstanding contributor to both endocrinology and circulation. He is best known for his discovery of the renin-angiotensin system at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. Tigerstedt's discovery allowed great strides in the research of hypertension, kidney disease, heart failure and other forms of cardiovascular disease.
