Within the Sticht Center, we believe in the team approach to care. Our patients are often dealing with multiple, complex health problems at the same time, with many factors complicating the situation.
Therefore, within our health-care system, patients are treated by an interdisciplinary team that has the expertise to evaluate and to treat medical, mental and functional problems at the same time.
That team may include a geriatrician, a neurologist, and a psychiatrist. Additionally, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, recreation therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and a pastoral care representative all work together daily. When important decisions are made, it's not by one person, but rather the complete team—a team that knows and understands the unique needs of the patient. That's an important point of difference. And a comfort to our patients and their families.
We Get The Family Involved
Within the Sticht Center, we believe that family members play an important role. Not only do they give comfort to the patient, they also provide us with valuable information--information that can be critical in terms of evaluating and treating the patient. When important decisions are made, we want the family involved.
We know that family members are going to have many questions. So, we listen. And we understand that families are under a lot of stress. Thus, we have developed a wide range of support services designed specifically for families.
