Research Interests
Dr. Herrington's focus is on the role of estrogen in the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease in postmenopausal women. Of late, he has investigated genetic approaches to understanding differential responses to estrogen agonists (hormone replacement therapy or selective estrogen receptor modulators), in collaboration with colleagues in the Human Genomics Center. This promising avenue is now a major area of Dr. Herrington's research activity, and he holds three R01 awards to pursue research questions in this area.
