Radiation Safety

The General Radiation Safety Committee (GRSC) advises the Dean of the School of Medicine on all matters related to radiation safety and establishes such policies and procedures as it may deem appropriate to ensure an adequate radiation safety program.


Medical Radiation Safety Committee

Member Area

The Medical Radiation Safety Committee (MRSC) establishes and recommends policies governing the procurement, storage, use and disposal of all radioactive materials and radiation-producing devices in the Hospital. In addition, it is responsible for the review and approval of clinical utilization of radionuclides for research or clinical purposes involving human subjects to assure minimal risk of harm from procedures which involve radioactive materials. The Committee’s activities supplement but do not replace the Institutional Review Board, the Clinical Research Practices Committee.


Radioactive Drug and Research Committee

Member Area

The Radioactive Drug and Research Committee (RDRC) is defined by Federal law, and its membership must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
