The Continuing Dental Education Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine/Department of Dentistry provides a variety of post-graduate continuing education for Dentists and other dental professionals on a local and national level. The Continuing Education Program is designated as a “Recognized Provider” by the Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) of the American Dental Association. The Department of Dentistry/Northwest AHEC provides rotations and training for dental students, clinical training of dental residents, 40+ continuing dental education programs for all dental professionals (250 - 300 hours annually), clinical/hands-on training programs, and in-service training for clinical staff/faculty. A variety of Library/Internet Access Services are also available. The Department of Dentistry sponsors and coordinates three large programs yearly. The Charles R. Jerge Dental Seminar is held each year in August at the Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina. This program is named in memory of the founding chairmen of the Department of Dentistry, Dr. Charles R. Jerge. The Dental Mountain Meeting is held each year in October at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina. The 3rd meeting, Focusing Your Dental Practice, is held in various resort locations.
