Parent Involvement Committee Minutes

Pam opened the meeting with a welcome and thank you to everyone for their time and for participating in the P.I.C.
Pam shared that not all rooms had representatives, nor did we need classroom representative, but that all age groups were represented.
Focus of the meeting was to share ideas for staff appreciation as well as quarterly parent event. Staff appreciation will be monthly while parent appreciation will be quarterly.
Shannon Kemp suggested a Halloween theme for the décor for the Staff lounge with different treats for the whole week of October 23rd... Treats would be added daily. Delia suggested that the Administration message the parents on the computer versus posting outside the classroom to request help obtaining the treats. E-mail will also be used.
Shannon Kemp suggested that there should be a Decorating and Food committee for this event.
Shannon volunteered to take care of the food, while Delia Rhodes volunteered to oversee the food.
Delia Rhodes suggested a catered lunch in November for the Staff Appreciation. She will check into pricing with the Dietary Dept. for the turkey.
Leslie Underwood volunteered to check into Honey Baked Ham for pricing information. Parents will be asked to volunteer to make side dishes for the rest of the meal.
It was decided that the luncheon will be on the third Wednesday of November.
Administration will assist with food drop off and the warming of the food.
Lindsay Holder volunteered to oversee the Food, and Barbara Evans will oversee set-up and clean up for this event
Anh Young volunteered her services to update the center’s website to help communicate to Medical Center parents, and will provide links to those serving on P.I.C.
It was discussed that for December that the staff would receive gift cards in the amount of $25. The group will continue to discuss where these cards should be from. Lindsey Holder shared that the P.I.C. may want to check into other places for the gift cards because not all of the staff lives in W-S, so the mall may not be convenient.
Anh Young volunteered to be in charge of the decorations for December.
Shannon Kemp suggested that the P.I.C. should decide how much money would be spent monthly on staff events. It was then decided that the parents would be surveyed to find out their opinions.
Pam closed the meeting with a vote to decided when the P.I.C. would meet monthly. It was decided that P.I.C. would meet the first Wednesday of every month at 12:30pm in the MPR.
