June/July Teacher Event

Dwayne McFerrin has offered to be in charge of this event since Dalena Childress is now unavailable.  Dwayne contacted a rental agency about renting a sno cone machine and the accessories.  The price may be over the budgeted $75, but with other months coming in under budget, the group felt it was ok for the June/July event to be over budget.  The event is still set for Friday, June 30, from 11 to 1.

August Teacher Event

Barbara Evans is in charge of this event.  The date is August 17, 2006 from 11 to 1.  Barbara is putting together a lemonade stand to serve lemonade and watermelon.  Parents will be asked to bring in jugs of pre-mixed lemonade drinks and cut-up watermelon ready to serve.  Barbara will get the ice from the center and provide cups.

September Teacher Event

The group discussed getting a wish list of school supplies from each teacher.  The PIC would purchase an item or two from each teacher’s list, as the budget allows.  Pam Hauser will coordinate getting the wish lists in July or August.

2nd Quarter Parent Event – End-of-Year Picnic

Leslie Underwood reported on the progress of plans.  Leslie asked for volunteers for set-up and clean-up.  Pam and Madeline Cashdollar volunteered to join Leslie and Shannon Kemp for set-up.  Heather Hall and Lori Nifong volunteered to join Leslie for clean-up.  The PIC will use the center’s 2 drink coolers for the event, too.

Graduation Picnic

The organizers are still looking for 2 people to set up the food, drinks, etc. at the park shelter before families arrive from the ceremony.  They have budgeted $60 to pay each person $30 for their services.  Leslie and Dwayne volunteered to help out if no one else can be found.  Heather asked if PIC volunteers could be recognized during the graduation slide show.  Dalena asked about generic gifts for each graduate.  Upon consultation with Pam and Kris Kent, they decided on bubbles for the graduates.

Security Guards

The group discussed how to voice concerns over the termination of security guard service in the center’s parking lot.  Pam asked that parents forward their concerns to her and she will pass them along to CCLC head-office.
