CT Facility:

Ø            GE 16-slice Light Speed Pro:  Dedicated research scanner used primarily for Human Clinical Research subjects.  It is possible to do non-human primates and to a lesser degree, smaller animals, including rodents.  Spatial resolution is sub- millimeter.

MRI Facility:

Ø            GE Twin Speed 1.5T MR Scanner with EXCITE Technology, operates at Echo speed:  Dedicated research scanner used primarily for Human Clinical Research subjects.  It is possible to do non-human primates and to a lesser degree, smaller animals.  Scanner is also earmarked for MRI software and hardware development.  Spatial resolution is sub-millimeter. 

PET Facility:

Ø            Concord MicroPET Scanner:  Dedicated animal scanner with a spatial resolution of 2.0mm.  It is presently used for rodents and non-human primates.

Ø            GE Advance NXi PET Scanner: Dedicated research scanner for scanning Human Clinical Research subjects as well as non-human primate imaging.  The spatial resolution is 4.25mm.

Ø            Available Radiopharmaceuticals:

FDG – Metabolic imaging ligand

FCP – Dopamine D2 receptor imaging ligand

FCT – Dopamine transporter imaging ligand

FBT – Cholinergic imaging ligand

DASB – Serotonin transporter imaging ligand

Fallypride – Dopamine D2 receptor imaging ligand.

Informatics:

Ø            Two (2) GE Advantage Workstations:  These are dedicated 4-dimensional workstations used for post-image acquisition data manipulation, including temporal analysis of three-dimensional data sets (human or non-human).

Ø            TeraRecon:  TeraRecon, Inc. - Aquarius Workstations and the AquariusNET Server / Thin Client system. TeraRecon's advanced Aquarius systems provide real-time 3D and 4D manipulation of medical imaging scan data for physicians and researchers from any location within the enterprise. These state-of-the-art image processing tools provide a wide variety of visualization and quantification tools for use in the analysis of medical imaging data and the planning of therapy.

Animal Imaging (MicroMR):

Ø            Bruker 7.0 T MRI Scanner with a 30cm. bore:  Dedicated small animal, predominantly murine, scanner with sub-millimeter spatial resolution.  The scanner is located within the Nutrition Research Center.

Located at the Piedmont Triad Research Park:

Ø            Toshiba Aquilion 32 Fast Whole Body Ct Scanner:  Dedicated for animal scanning; this scanner is the most advanced 32-slice CT scanner available. 

Ø            Siemens MicroCAT:  Dedicated for small animal scanning
