What we are studying
The purpose of this research study is to examine influential variables in the Advance Care Planning
process. Advance Care Planning is a process in which individuals learn about the types of health care decisions that might need to be made, consider those decisions ahead of time, and then share their preferences, often by putting them into an advance directive. Understanding your attitude towards and the
influential variables within this process has implications for patient and health care provider dialogue, patient care, and broader hospital policies related to medical care. Additionally, the inclusion of designated medical decision makers for patients permits the researchers to gather data related to designated decision makers’ perception of fulfilling that role.
