Vitamin D and Nephrotic Syndrome in Pediatric Patients

What we are studying

Nephrotic syndrome causes protein loss in the urine due to kidney disease. In nephrotic syndrome can also cause swelling of the face, hands, abdomen, and/or legs. The purpose of this research study is to determine how often Vitamin D deficiency occurs in childhood nephrotic syndrome and whether it has an effect on steroid treatment response.

  • Ages 2 - 18

Eligibility Criteria

  • Newly diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome

What is involved

  • 2 study visits that occur during routine doctor visits to the nephrology clinic
