What we are studying
The purpose of this research study is to collect liver tissue that is normally discarded after surgery to obtain cells that can be used for biomedical research. The sponsor will also use these liver cells in research studies to look at ways medicines affect the liver. What happens to medicines once they enter liver cells will also be studied. Many of the negative side effects of medications in humans occur in the liver. The aim is to predict possible side effects or problems that new drugs being developed may have on the liver using human liver cells obtained from this study. The information will then be used to design better and safer drugs.
