Each year, approximately 48 students enter the Physician Assistant Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. For over 30 years the program has remained committed to:
• Providing a strong educational foundation in Primary Care Medicine; • Preparing students to practice within our multicultural society; • Encouraging students to participate in community service; • Fostering leadership qualities; • Assisting students in developing exemplary skills in health promotion; • Enabling the student to have a technologically progressive knowledge base; and • Promoting a dedication to lifelong learning.
The program is constantly evolving to meet the needs of its students and the profession. On May 17, 2001, the program officially dedicated its new state-of-the-art medical educational facility, which is a part of the Piedmont Triad Research Park. Also, a Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree in Physician Assistant Studies, which includes a greater emphasis on epidemiology, research methodology and the promotion of evidence-based medicine, is offered to students.
