Accreditation
The Wake Forest University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation
Wake Forest University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Needs Assessment

In response to requests from WFUSM alumni, the Medical Alumni Association (MAA) annually asks the Office of Continuing Medical Education to help them plan CME sessions for Alumni Weekend.  This year's session topics were chosen based on various needs assessment data such as past evaluation summaries, "hot topics" in medicine, current trends and clinical trial results, topic requests from community physicians, and identified knowledge gaps.

Learner Objectives
At the conclusion of this CME activity, the learner should be better able to: 1.) Discuss the growth in MRSA infections, what types of patients are affected, and the most appropriate management and treatment; 2.) Describe the current status of advanced directives planning and the legislation, forms, and guidelines affecting end of life care choices; and 3.) Trace the history of the Burn Center and burn care at WFUBMC and compare it to today's Center and care.
